A Love Story in Tuscany: Jason & Tiana’s Four Seasons Florence Engagement

After announcing that I was stepping back from photography—except for my long-time couples at Castle Weddings—I honestly thought I’d be putting the camera down more often. But sometimes, the right request comes along, and it’s simply impossible to say no.

That’s exactly what happened when Jason and Tiana reached out about planning an engagement shoot in Florence, Italy. At first, it seemed like another dream destination session. But as we talked, we discovered something that made the connection much deeper: they are from Palm Beach, Florida, just minutes away from where I lived for ten years in the U.S. That felt like more than a coincidence—it felt like a sign. From that moment, I knew I couldn’t say anything other than “yes.”

Three weeks later, we finally met in Florence. I was lucky to have the support of my friend Simona, who helped organize the perfect setting at the Four Seasons Hotel Florence. Having someone local to lean on is always a game-changer, especially in a city like Florence, where every corner holds a rich history, charm, and endless possibilities for capturing photos.

But Jason himself added an unexpected twist. As a real estate influencer, he managed to secure one of the most breathtaking spots in the city: La Terrazza Sul Duomo Firenze, a private terrace overlooking the iconic Florence Cathedral. The Duomo rising in the background, the terracotta rooftops glowing in the golden Tuscan light—it was as if the city itself was celebrating with them. That’s where we began our session, and honestly, it felt almost surreal to capture such intimate moments in such a legendary setting.

Afterward, we moved back to the Four Seasons. We eased into the second part of the shoot with drinks to break the ice and let the atmosphere relax even more. There’s something about the mix of luxury and old-world charm in that hotel that adds depth to every photo. Jason and Tiana were radiant—stylish, elegant, but also completely natural with each other. Their Four Seasons Florence engagement photos perfectly capture that balance: sophistication, romance, and authenticity in one of the world’s most timeless places.

Once we wrapped up, I left them to enjoy what they came for: a romantic dinner together in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I, on the other hand, stayed behind for a couple of days, wandering the streets of Florence with no agenda other than soaking in its beauty. As a photographer, even when I’m not officially working, I can’t help but notice the light, the colors, the stories etched into the stone walls of this city.

Looking back, this session reminded me of why I still say yes to special requests now and then. Photography, at its best, isn’t just about images—it’s about connection. It’s about coincidences that don’t feel like coincidences, about crossing paths with people who carry a piece of your own story. For me, Jason and Tiana’s engagement wasn’t only about Florence’s beauty (though it delivered that in spades), but about rediscovering why I first fell in love with photography in the first place.
